Armed Schools?

In the wake of the Sandy Hook elementary school massacre, a great number of ideas have been put forward regarding how to make America safer from gun violence. Gun control regulations of automatic weapons, ammunition, and clips/ magazines have been called for. Mental Health Care care has been brought up as an area deserving of more support and funding. The Media has been blamed for glorifying gun violence in its television programming, movies, and video games... and news reporting. Specific to schools, it has been suggested that the next step to enhancing school security (beyond our Alice training) is to employ armed guards. Given the cost of that- whether private, or Police (and many schools in troubled areas already have this), other suggestions have been to train and arm teachers, or to certify armed "volunteers" who are trained in the use and safety of firearms.

What do you think? What can be done to make America safer for every individual?

What about our 2nd Amendment rights to own firearms?

As always, please be respectful with your postings. Our hearts go out to Sandy Hook's teachers, students, and families. Their response to unthinkable tragedy has been noble and rooted in human dignity. Their response has already made the lives of their children, teachers, and principal make a difference.
